What Supplements Should You Be Taking to Build Muscle and Strength?

In all honesty, you do not need any supplements to reach your fitness goals. In fact, many supplements that are pushed on us do not even work as they promise. There is no magic pill that will substitute hard work and determination. There are a few supplements, however, that are not a complete waste of money and can benefit your training efforts. So, here are two supplements that we would vouch for.

Creatine

Many use creatine as an aid to help boost strength. Creatine is naturally found in meat. To get the amount of creatine in meat that you can easily find in supplements (about 5g), you would need to eat around 2.5 pounds of meat a day. Now, you may not find that a difficult thing to do, but for most people that is an inconvenient, expensive, and off-putting way to go about getting creatine into your diet.

As with most things, what works for you may not work for another. And vice versa. If you want to test if creatine will help you lift heavier and put on more muscle, give it a try for about 5 days or so. After that, you can make a better assessment on whether taking this supplement is worth it to you.

Whey

Whey is a dairy derived protein. It is essentially what is left over from the cheese making process. What whey is good for is convenience. There are tons of claims about what whey can or cannot do. But if you want the truth, it is just a convenient way to meet some of your protein requirements for the day. It is cheap, portable, and easy.

Many whey providers prey on people who do not know what to look for or buy and want a cheap option. Just remember that the cheaper the option you go with, the more fillers it is likely to have. So, if possible, try to spend a little more on a reputable, quality whey.

Again, you do not need multivitamins, pre-workouts, or any other supplement to achieve your fitness goals. Even though there is a lot of information in the fitness world saying that you do.
