Ways Single Equipment Centered Workouts Can Benefit You

Sometimes less is more. This can be the case when it comes to gym equipment. And while our Junkyard Training facility is equipped with just about every piece of equipment you can desire to meet your athletic goals, there is value in focusing some of your workouts on one single piece of equipment. Whether that be a kettlebell, dumbbell, or plate, here is how focusing on one piece of equipment during your workouts can benefit you.

It Will Help You Create a More Balanced Body

Our bodies are not naturally balanced. Everyone has certain sides of muscle groups that are more dominant than the other. And it is not something that we typically notice. Afterall, our bodies naturally let stronger muscles step in to help carry the load for weaker muscles. If you want to balance out your muscles more, however, focusing on single equipment workouts can help you do that. When you use a single piece of equipment for your movements, each muscle area gets worked individually. This will help you identify imbalances and correct them.

It Will Develop Your Core

To maintain good form while performing movements using single pieces of equipment, your core needs to stabilize you. Having a strong core will support you in many ways and will prevent injury. The fact that your core is forced to engage while using kettlebells and plates even when that is not the main muscle you are focusing on, is just an added benefit.

It Will Help Increase Your Range of Motion

Dumbbell, kettlebell, and plate centric workouts all involve compound movements. Compound movements are great because they work more than one muscle group at once. Meaning you get more bang for your buck or more muscle training for your time. And since you are completely responsible for the control of each movement and are not assisted by a machine, you will have the added benefit of increased range of motion over time. When you are more flexible you can squat deeper, lunge farther, and push what your body can do to new heights.

So next time you are designing your workout plan, make sure to pepper in some dumbbell, kettlebell, or plate training into your routine. Your body will thank you!
